Just For You Meg

Floor and bottom of vanity, the wood is beautiful, can't wait for you to see for yourself.
Shower where we had the tub removed the shower head slides up and down the bar you see.
The new vanity.

Here are the pictures of the bathroom remodel, not very good views. Everything was old and out dated so they just gutted the whole bath now every thing is new. In the before picture I was just tearing everything apart hence the missing drawer. The picture was an afterthought. We put in all new cabinets, took out the bathtub and put in a full shower which is much easier for Grandpa with his bad leg. We put a cabinet in middle of the double vanity, which I love, so much storage. We put ceramic tile on the floor, which is so nice. Granite counter tops and marble shower. It is so much easier to clean. I just love it, I am still decorating, just keeping my eye out for that special thing.

Where Did The Summer Time Go

I was just looking back over some old posts, and began to wonder what happened to summer? It is already time to look forward to thanksgiving. Our Grandkids Megan and Ryan went to Germany to school and it is almost time for them to come home, seems like they just left. Anni and I spent time together, she is talking now, and we just wait to hear what she will say next. I am Grandma Soni and Tom is Papa Tom. It is a cold one tonight and they are predicting snow, lots of snow. Guess our skiers will be happy.
Not much interesting to blog about, oh I did finally get my bathroom remodeled it was good to cross that one off the bucket list. We got the house painted too. So I guess summer wasn't entirely a bust. We had a family reunion of sorts and this is a picture of myself and my brother and sister. OMG we are getting old......

Sad but True

My grandmother was never what you called a cuddly loving Grandmother. She always seemed a little distant, but she was my only living Grandmother and passed when I was 12. So everything seemed normal to me. The last few days I have spent some time out of curiosity looking up some old death certificates. They are interesting in the fact the give the date, time, and cause of death. Come to find out my dear grandmother buried two sons. One from drowning in a auto accident and the other from suicide. I have heard these stories when I was young but they were just stories. Now I realize the pain connected with each tragic incident. I too have lost a son to a tragic accident, but thankfully I haven't lost my ability to show my affection to those I love. I didn't know Grandma's were supposed to put their arm around you, snuggle you, kiss the top of your head and tell you how sweet you were. No wonder I was jealous of my nieces and nephews, my mom was always a kind and loving grandma, and when I think back I am sorry I missed that, but now I guess I understand.

Baby's Best Friend

Oh yeah, nice Fairfa!

Hum, nice fur.

Fairfa, eat your grass.

Now let me show you how.

I just had to share with you our little Anni's best friend. We never thought this dog would take so much crap from a baby, but she is turning out to be a great companion for Anni.
Oh by the way the dogs name is Farrah, but soon becoming Fairfa, that is how Anni pronounces it. She (Anni) knows where the dog cookies are, and often shares her crate. Tells her "sit, sit" and " good girl" They are quite a pair to watch.

Poor Old Broken Grandpa Update

We went to the Orthopedic Doctor yesterday and he gave Grandpa a clean bill of health. He said it will be about 6 months before he is feeling completely normal. To Tom the best news was that he didn't have to go back for more ex rays. He brought a picture home and it looks like he has a piece of plumbing pipe in his leg. It has been a long old haul but we are happy everything turned out as well as is did. It is amazing what they can do now.

Which Planet am I On.

When my little Great Granddaughter was 6 weeks old I agreed to watch her while my Granddaughter worked. She is now approaching the terrible 2's and once again in my care. Don't get me wrong, I love her with all my heart, and who wouldn't she is adorable. But, when a good part of my day is spent watching Yo Gabba Gabba, and reading the same book over and over " Biscuit" the little Yellow dog is the book of the day. I wonder which part of outer space I am living in. Our dog Farrah is pretty much taking her into stride, and I think they are beginning to bond, but some days the two of them can put you a little closer to the nut house. It makes me understand why young mothers work, but then in my Granddaughters case it is out of necessity. We often wonder why our lives take the turns they do, I am a firm believer everything happens for a purpose, and this chance, no matter what the cost is a gift. To be so close to her and share all her little life changes and experiences is truly a blessing, every new word she utters, every little tantrum she throws, the stress when she won't eat. How many people my age get to experience this, even if you do have days you feel like you are living on the moon.

An Education

Now I believe myself to be a responsible pet owner, but yesterday I got an education. Poor little Farrah got so sick Wednesday night, I was up with her almost all night. She had a bad case of diarrhea, so we were going out into the night every little while. I was thinking at this rate she won't make it long and I was worried. When she got up the next morning she was packing her back leg and not the happy puppy she usually is. I decided to call my friend Vickies vet, her dog ate rocks and had to have two surgeries, and she had nothing but good thing to say about this vet. He was in surgery, but we decided to wait until afternoon and see him anyway. I was so impressed by the time he spent with me explaining all Farrah's ailments. I would like to have a Doctor this caring for myself. Seems she has a bacterial infection, from me feeding her meats, and little goodies from the table. I thought meat was good for dogs, but found out it is one of the worst things to give them, one little slice of roast beef can cause a infection in some dogs. I had been giving Farrah a lot of meat lately. So, no more table scraps, the vet says, some dogs are just garbage guts and can handle anything, but some are very sensitive. The pain in her legs are growing pains, has some big long medical term which transalates into growing pains. The tendions on the long bones become inflamed. Yes I was feeding her to much, he told me to start giving her adult food now and only what is bag recommends for her weight (60) pounds. He gave her all her meds, and with in an hour she was a different dog. He said Dogie day care is very good for her but only 2 days a week and no more than 4 hours a day for a while. She will be taking about 5 pills a day for the next 4 days. We will both be breaking a lot of bad habits. Now if she stops chewing the lattice fence, and the house, and the Posts on the patio, we will all be happy.

Thank you Dr. Doughty.

Has Facebook taken over? Seems no one blogs any more. The only one we have to rely on is our friend Vickie and her dog Bert. Farrah goes to Vickie's Dogie Day Care, to learn to how get along with other dogs and to play, so dad and I can have some peace and quite once in a while. She goes 2 or 3 days a week, and it was a god send when dad was in the hospital and the rehab center. Vickie's blog is written through Bert's eyes and is a hoot to read. She has such a way with words. She posts lots of pictures of the dogs that come to stay there, and every now and again Farrah is a star. Dad is getting along pretty well.
He has therapy 3 times a week and is walking with a cane. He doesn't have to much pain or a least he doesn't complain, he can't do to many things yet but does what he can. We chose the out patient therapy because it gets him out of the house. He goes to his personal Doctor on Tuesday, and to the surgeon for ex-rays on the 22nd. So we are hoping for the best and that every thing is healing well, and yes Ryan he is still wearing you Alaska hat. He wore it in the Hospital and in the Rehab center. Sorry I didn't get a picture for you of Grandpa in his hospital bed with his hat on.

You Gotta Love Grandpa

Monday Grandpa went out to get the mail as he does almost everyday, part of his routine. Were we going to go to Petsmart and get dog food so I thought (a little agitated I might say), he was sitting in the car waiting for me. After about 10 or15 minutes I grabbed my purse and went headed out side. He wasn't is the car, so I looked around and he was laying in the driveway. I rushed to his side to find he had slipped on the ice and fallen. "Please help me up!" After a good tug, "I can't lift you, let me call 911 for help". " No! I'll crawl, but I can't MOVE!!" "Ok, I"ll call 911." "NO! Funny story I won't repeat. All said and done the Ambulance took him to the hospital.
I don't know if it was fear but his sense for humor ran rampid. He kept every one in the emergacy laughing, he had a joke for every nurse that entered his room. He kept us all entertained as we sat fearing the worst. He was so pleasant through the pain of a broken hip, we we were all amazed. You have got to admire someone like that, I am sure the hospital staff does.
One of the OR nurses told him she loved him. After surgery to repair the break, he will be in the hospital a few more days and them maybe rehab, or home. He wants to come home, so I hope they let him. I have to take care of him when he comes home, so I may be recanting this story, because like others I know he can be an ornery old fart too, but to see his reaction to all of this was amazing. He could sure set an example for a world full of complainers. The Doc said he will be as good as new is about 3 months. I don't think he heard these words. Three months of therapy ouch.
